Happenings on the Homestead in the Appalachian Mountains

Weekend Coffee Share

Hello there Adventurous Friends & Family, greetings from Georgia. How you doing this 4th week of 2024? It's 54 degrees out this early Friday morning as I get ready to head into work here in a couple hours. We've had quite a warm-up in the weather since last week. Rain was forecasted for about every day this week & it did rain about every day. This weekend we're getting the camper stocked & ready for an upcoming camping trip. I'm going to get caught up on laundry, Kevin is going to work on putting a ceiling in the workshop. I'm hoping we can get in a jeep ride & picnic since we've not done that in a few weeks. We sold a few of the hens & a rooster this week along with several dozens of eggs. The recipients seemed to be very pleased. The rooster continued to crow & the hens continued laying eggs were the reports I got, so their move went smooth & successful. That downsized the adult chicken flock to make room for the baby chicks Kevin just ordered for spring arrival. We're going to try to set & hatch some eggs under a hen too, when the weather warms up & stays warm. Grab a coffee or your favorite beverage & I'll tell you about Grands visit last weekend, walk with me...

*  Nana Grandjoy Camp Run-A-Muk - We enjoyed having Grand for the weekend. I took him to his basketball game. There was snow on top of the mountain. We stopped at the new DG Market on the way back from the game. Instead of Super Walmart, it's Super Dollar General Store, was my thought about the place. The store was neat & clean, the aisles were bigger, there were no stock carts in the aisles blocking the merchandise. I had plans to work out in the yard with Grand, picking up sticks & having a hotdog roast. It was too cold & windy, so we stayed inside & did some other things.

Brownies were made & Trouble was played.

2 small tackle boxes of fishing lures were put into one super duplex tackle box.
There was discussion about the names of each lure & how it worked.

Big Macs for supper.

Lego creations were built, I helped with
color sorting & finding pieces when
needed.

Kevin got the last brownie as
a surprise in his lunch.

Rose got a new toy.

Displaying the Lego camping creation
on the mantel for a time since it's getting
camping time weather. The little picnic table
is so cute along with the skunk & beaver.

These are some of the things that's been going on in my neck of the woods, how has your week been?

  2. I always helped with sorting and finding pieces too (though only my youngest ever asked for help with Legos. He really just seemed to buy the sets for the figures!).
