Weekend Coffee Share

Hello there Adventurous Friends & Family, greetings from Georgia.  How you doing this 22nd week of 2023?  We went to a family reunion & hosted a hotdog roast.  Brother came from Texas for a visit.  I hadn't seen him in person in about 18 years or so.  

I had ordered a Georgia cup & received a Michigan cup. I processed a return & replacement.  I got Georgia but then found out I had printed the wrong shipping label to return Michigan.  I did attempt to correct my error, but it didn't work out.  I could have kept on it but decided what the heck, everybody needs an extra unwanted cup or 2 hanging out in their cabinets.  Michigan has already come in handy when an extra cup was needed for serving hot chocolate during one of those family get togethers.

Moma brought us some hostas & primrose to add to our flower gardens.  I got those planted.  Kevin helped dug a hole or 2.  Grab a coffee or your favorite beverage & I'll tell you how visiting with family went, come walk with me...

*  The family reunion was supposed to have been a surprise from Brother to Moma for her birthday, even though her birthday was earlier in the month.  After it was all over & done with, Moma said it was truly a surprise.  She said she had known nothing about the family reunion.  She also said that if she had of known, she wouldn't have ate lunch before she left the house going somewhere to see something as Brother had told her.  There were 4 generations represented at the potluck get together along with lots of hugs & giggles.  There were 4 high school graduates in the family that were recognized being showered with cards, gifts & such.

Ladder golf was played,
it was pretty fun.

* Kevin & I hosted a hotdog roast dinner party to get in more visiting time with Brother & with our other immediate family too.  The guest list was for about 30 people, rain or shine.  It did end up raining a bit, but the trees provided enough of an umbrella that not everyone moved under the covered areas.  

 Fish were caught.

The baby chicks were cuddled.

Mud pies were made.

If you're invited to our house to eat, more than likely you'll
 be cooking your own food over an open fire.  

Can you tell those 2 are brothers?

Hello there Adventurous Friends & Family, greetings from Georgia.  How you doing this 21st week of 2023?  Kevin had a yard sale, I had Nana Camp Run-A-Muk & went to the church's graduate recognition service, we got our baby chickens & finally got around to putting seed in the birdfeeder.  Grab a coffee or your favorite beverage & I'll tell you more.  Come walk with me...

*  We meet some of our neighbors during the yard sale.  Kevin enjoyed wheeling, dealing, talking to everyone & getting rid of stuff.  The property came fully furnished with lots of good stuff we didn't necessarily need or want.  Brother-in-law & Daughter added a few things to the sale.  Overall, the sale was a success.  Not a lot of people but did get rid of a lot of stuff. Kevin took some remaining stuff into town & sold to an antique shop, some stuff he donated to the Veteran's thrift store & unfortunately some things went to the dump.

There was interest in the camper but no taker yet.  We think when the camper
 gets fully mobile again & ready to pull away that we'll have better luck selling it.

The one item she chose
 to keep for herself.

*  Nana Grandjoy Camp Run-A-Muk - Grand spent a couple of nights to help around the house & with the yard sale.  One of her jobs was checking on Pa & taking him snacks. There was cookie & mud pie making accomplished.  The flowers got lots of watering using the fresh creek water.

bird feeder that we were able to identify.

*  Daughter's church had a graduate recognition service for the upcoming high school graduators that attend their church regularly or occasional.  Grand & his Girlfriend were included in the honorees.  It was a good service advising the graduating teens & all of us to keep our values & stay away from the misuse of drugs & alcohol.  Each graduate got a leather-bound study bible from the church & many money filled cards from individuals.  Son-in-Law cooked his delicious smash burgers recipe to go along with other delicious fixings prepared by the church ladies for a delicious meal & fellowship after the service.

* The chickens Kevin ordered arrived safe & sound.  He waited not so patiently for the Post Office to call.  The chicks were chirping loudly upon arrival. Their little bodies felt warm as we opened the shipping box to take a quick peek at what we got before transferring them over into the brooder box.  Kevin took the babies out one at a time.  He dipped their beak in water to be sure each one got its 1st drink.  Then he scratched their feed trough to help them find their food.  Once a few started eating the rest followed.  The brooder box Kevin made out of the shower he took out of the bathhouse worked perfect.  The chickens were shipped from Iowa.  Kevin chose 6 varieties.  There were assorted wyandottes, cochin variety pack, midnight majesty marans, olive egger, salmon faverolles & speckled sussex.

 

Yard sale items were traded for Black Australorps.

Hello there Adventurous Friends & Family, greetings from Georgia.  How you doing this 20th week of 2023?  Kevin asks, "What's for breakfast?"  I tell him he is the breakfast cooker.  He goes in the kitchen & fixes up something good for us.  Sometimes it involves his homemade blueberry jelly. Grab a coffee or your favorite beverage & I'll tell you about a few other goings on, come walk with me...

*  Kevin cooked hamburgers & tator cakes for supper on his new grill. The buns I got were sandwich thins with low net carbs & no added sugar. So many foods have added sugars that we never thought about. Kevin crumbled up the leftover burgers, breakfast wraps & salads for lunches were made.

out the m & ms.  I got to have this
blue one.

 *  I stayed with Baby Grands while Daughter went to a doctor's appointment about her ear.  She had been having earaches for a few days then she thought her ear drum had ruptured.  There was oozing, dizziness & she couldn't hear out of that ear.  She was given some antibiotic steroids to try to get the healing process going.  The specialist was not sure if her hearing in that ear would come back or not.  Here's how my morning went at Daughter's house before work...

blue shirt. Daughter got new appliances
 for Christmas & they were recently
delivered & installed.

*  Week 3 & 4 of looking into the bird nest in the rafter of the mower shed.

*  Kevin called the hatchery to see if they could ship the chicks earlier than the mid-June date since we were ready for them.  Come to find out, all the varieties that he had ordered, expect one, were not going to be available even for the original shipping date.   He said it was a good thing he called so he could choose varieties they were going to have.  On our property was a camper that was set up permanent with a roof & porch.  It was a nice set up but something we're not going to get a lot of use out of.  Kevin has been working to get the camper mobile again so we can sell it & attach the chicken fence to the roof posts.  We have thoughts of getting a smaller camper, something we can pull behind the jeep.

* Grands Middle School baseball team had an undefeated season, winning the conference championship against a tough rivaling team.  The opposing team was actually my hometown team that had a great-nephew playing.  I cheered for both teams.  Both teams played a good game. There were good hits made by both teams & there were good plays made by both teams.  Here are a couple of action shots I took while getting to watch the last innings of several of their games during the season including the championship game.
